im hoping its only gearbox bearings, which is fixable and far more less costly than a replacement recon gearbox

Do you have ICE installations in the car so noise come's from speakers??

Just a suggestion
But it does sound like the gearbox tbh, my car has the noise too just not as loud. I can only hear it when im stationary. Once I get moving i can't hear it (probably because of my buddy club...)
It shouldnt be too expensive to get your 'box fixed. A few hundred squid and a day or two at Honda depending on how busy they are.
Whistling noises could also be coming from the clutch thrust bearing or the alternator (as stated earlier in this thread). Personally I would just take the car to Honda before anything breaks. Sounds like the noise is getting worse.
One thing to remember about bearings. If they fail, they generally seize completely. My friends wheel bearing in his Mini failed and locked the front left wheel which caused him to veer off onto the pavement uncontrollably (thank f**k no-one was there!). And i dont think you'd want a gearbox bearing to do that

I was told the bearings won't break completely until the noise in the car is unbearable in all gears. So you should be fine for the near future.
