I have a 55 plate 1.6 s type but have no manuals.
Does anyone know if the battery is disconnected does the radio work Ok or does it have to have a code entered and likewise with the alarm.

yes, if you disconnect the battery, the radio will lock and it will need a code to unlock

Dealers will usually charge ya something like 20 quid for giving you the code. When the car was new it would have been on a little card in the service and instruction book that came with the car. Sometimes you'll find it written on the top of the radio if someone has had it out before. you'd have to remove the radio to find out though.
Id rather just get a facia and stick any half decent stereo in there. the standard honda one is shite. :)

its not free buddy..

what i do is if a car needs a code, i tell someone to hold the positive wire when i change the battery and leave it start.

My local dealer said it'd be 10 pounds plus vat for radio code.. Apparently the pioneer units have to be plugged in to retrieve the code instead of the more common code calculator method..

If you need to remove the battery you can get 9volt cigarette lighter battery adapter things which should stop your radio losing its memory.

Hope this helps!
