Nah you won't have blown the battery, you would no if you had. Sounds like you could have blown a load of fuses.

I haven't fitted HIDs before but they need to be earthed to something don't they? Could you have possibly disconnected your ignition switch from its earth? Might explain why its not even turning over.

Where did you get them from? hids4u kits are idiot proof. Just plug and play, no faffing about with finding a good earthing point.

I would say it's probably a fuse. Does all the other electrical equipment work? interior lights, music, rear lights etc?

yea got them from hids4u. think it was my fault I didn't realise you have to earth them? but yea electrical stuff all works. I've got an amp going to the battery too maybe i've overloaded it? gona check all fuses the now. could it be the alternator

It probably is a fuse. While fitting the HIDs you could have shorted out some wires and blown the fuse.

No it won't be your alternator. The alternator doesn't start your car, nor does it provide power to your car. Its there purely for keeping the battery charged up with juice so that it can keep powering your car.

I don't think its anything expensive that has broken *fingers crossed*

hids4u dont have a separate ground kit. Did you disconnect the battery before you did anything? I dont know why that would make any difference. I don't see how you could possibly have gone wrong with that kit. It's all plug and play and each connection can only fit one other. There isn't really anywhere for it to go wrong.

Perhaps you have just overloaded it. They aren't the best batteries as it is, and are beginning to get old.

ah right na i never disconnected the battery before fitting but the ignition was off the whole time. Like I said the hids work fine as do all the other electrics, its just that the car won't turn over now :D im gona go through every fuse now hopefully I can find fault. alsp have the lights disconnected now and its just the amp on the battery, possibly just needing a newer battery hopefully. thanks for the quick replies guys

Once up and running (or lit up) the HID system uses less power than standard halogen bulbs. However the ballasts/starter motors need around 24,000v to fire up the bulbs. Perhaps this increased voltage, combined with the sub was a bit much for the battery to cope with, and either has blown the battery, or more likely a fuse somewhere.

Other than that I'm stuck for ideas. If I think of anymore I'll let you know

Let us know how you get on :D

Try a volt meter on the battery first before you buy a new one!

The ballasts don't need 24000 volts. They run at 12V and convert to 24000V, so no spikes like that for the battery :D

The battery couldn't have blown if everything else electric works (interior lights etc.)
If something gave then the starter did, or it's just not connected.

I would agree with jeunaske about the starter, although he says the windows dont work either, even thought the fuse is ok?

You could try jump starting it with another car, that would tell you if the battery is dead.
Or even push start it?

Yeah if it won't wake up with a jump start, then a push start will get it going regardless. Push starting is not really a permanent solution though :D

altenator does provide power to the car onces its running the battery only starts the car.

windows wont work souly because theres not enough power left in the battery to get them going.

jump start the car and drive it for about 20miles. stop it and see if it will start again if it does your sorted just give a a really good drive to charge it back up.
