got in my car yesterday and after about 2 miles the engine warning light came on. the car felt fine so i finished my journey. went out in it twice today and the second time the light just turned itself off again. now iv just driven about a mile up the road and again the warning lights come on. Iv seen theres quite a few threads on the engine light issue and they all suggest to get it read (which is what im going to do). but my question is would this on/off'ing of the light suggest thats its just a faulty sensor rather than something more serious?

cheers guys

getting it read will help.

mine was on and went off and never came on again but the problem was still there. so dont take the light being off as problem solved cos it aint always the case.

cheers guys. it came back with 2 error readings, voltage too high in lamba sensor and voltage too low in lambda sensor. he's reset it and just suggested running high octane fuel for a while and getting one of those fuel cleaner kits.

Why ARENT you running high octane fuel? :x

BP Ultimate ftw

Glad its nothing serious mate

Its usually nothing serious if you car feels, sounds and drives perfectly fine. The last time I had a car and the engine warning light came on i KNEW there was a problem. My ECU must have been depressed coz it decided to electrocute itself using the voltage that was SUPPOSED to go to my spark plugs...had to drive home on 2 cylinders (yay...)

Have you guys not seen all the 'Reduce Fuel' campaigns. They all say to avoid buying from BP, as they are the biggest company. I don't know about down in England, but up here in Aberdeen, they are also consistantly the most expensive, about 2p a litre more than Shell!

Ah right, so you say buy from smaller companies? I just thought seeing as they are such a huge petrol company that their petrol is actually better? I've visited their site where they design new types of petrol and it looked very nice.

The only other petrol stations which sell nice high octane fuel are companies ive never heard of (or Tesco...and im not buying from them since what happened a few years ago!). So I don't have much of a choice if i'm low on fuel
