anyone tried firing their subs and port in different directions?

which setup got the best results?

i was thinking of firing my sub upwards and port towards the boot (although this would mean not much space before the air hits the boot)... anyone tried this, how dis it go?

well porting allows for a more transient bass sound and also adds around 3dB.

also.. certain drivers (subs) are suited to certain enclosures... not all will work in a sealed enclosure, the ones that im after work better in a ported box so was just wondering if anyone has tried different directions and which was best
hope that info is of some use for you jeunaske.

Porting is a MUST for bass speakers. Because they move a lot of air. If you hold your hand infront of a port you will feel air blowing against your hand. That is air that the speaker is moving in and out of the speaker case. Without the port the speaker will struggle to move as much.

Hope you understood what i said! i explained it really badly...:?

As for pointing the speaker in differant directions it won't really make much of a difference inside your car. Sound travels as a shockwave in a car because of the acoustics. You could try but i don't think there will be a major differance.

If you removed your parcel shelf and pointed your sub facing upwards then you may notice a bit better sound quality.

At the end of the day the acoustics in a car are sh*t which is why amps need to be so powerful to get any decent sound out of it! We just have to make do :?

Yeah that was the info I was looking for. If you have a driver that's designed for a ported box then you should use a ported box. :D
