I understand most of how to install a sub/amp. The only issue I am having is wiring up the remote cable to the head unit. How to you connect the remote cable from your amp to your head unit?

Do you have to splice the HU cable with the remote cable? If so how do you do this, with a scotch lock?

I suppose you're talking about the "wake up" cable. They're usually labeled "remote" on the amplifier.
In the back of your headunit, there should be a free wire (blue in Pioneer HUs) that has a label "remote" on it. It should have a connector already on it, so you don't have to splice anything.

Remember, always refer to your manual before connecting anything you're not sure of

It will be a loose blue wire coming from the power section of the ISO block. Now thats what it is if your running an aftermarket headunit, but if your running the standard radio, your going to need to use the ignition wire which isnt hard, but you will need a multi meter to confirm your right. The ignition wire will most probably be red on the power section of the iso again. it will show no voltage with the ignition off and 12V with ignition on. It is easiliy confused with the yellow permanent live which is unaffected by ignion position.

If you do use the ignition live, you will probably get a turn on/off pop.

Thanks for the replies

Im using an aftermarket Pioneer headunit, so from what I can gather that means that I can directly connect my 'remote cable' to the ISO adaptor? And I wont need to splice any cables?

Cheers.

no need to splice anything !! jus connect your own remote cable from your amp remota cable to the wire from the back of the head unit saying 'amp remote' or something similar !

Ive got my new HU infront of me, I have a 'system remote control' cable which I connect the remote cable from my amp to.

My problem now is that there are 2 blue and white cables on each of the connector blocks on the Headunit. They have special connectors on them which allow them to slot into each other, but in the instructions it says to only connect these 2 blue and white cables if 'Pin 5 (one of the blue/white cables) is an anntenna control type'.

Does anyone know what this means? Should I connect these 2 blue/white cables to each other or leave them as they are?

Any help would be great.

Leave them, and if something is not working properly try plugging them in. If whatever that was broken works, it's all good

Yeah think I will just leave them for now and see if it all works. Thanks
