With this Pioneer headunit, am I going to be able attach speakers and a sub to it? It says it only has 1 pre out, and a sub line

Wait so just with that Pioneer headunit, I would be able to power the my 10" active sub and a decent set of component/coaxial speakers?? I thought I would need to seperately amp a set of component speakers

Wait, you have an active sub? As in the subwofer has an amp built in? If that's the case you can wire your sub to the pre-out and drive max 4 speakers from the headunit itself.

Yea ive got Fli 10" active sub with an amp built into it. I thought the headunit couldn't handle running 4 speakers from it?

Ive also just found the model up which has 3 RCA outputs, its £10 extra then the first model but its blue and I fancy a red one to match my interior.

If I am going to eventually buy a 4 channel amp to run component speakers and a sub from, how many RCA pre outs do I need?

If you use the pre-out for the subwoofer, then you can use the remaining 4 speaker leads (front+back) from the ISO connector to drive speakers from the headunit. They get the ~17W from the headunit while the subwoofer takes it's own power straight from the battery (since it is an active one). That's why it's called pre-out, it doesn't give any wattage to the RCA leads, only signal.

If you're serious about the colour theme, then you buy what you want. I'd suggest you get the 3 pre-out Pioneer if it's only 10£ more. My headunit is blue too and the rest of the interior red, but the capabilities of the HU far outweigh the colour for me.

If you're going for a 2 speakers + sub setup then you will need 2 pre-outs from the headunit (front+sub). However some amplifiers accept a high power input. That means you can wire the headunit ISO lead to a marked point in the external amplifier.

Anyone know? Sorry to re-post, its just im waiting to order the fascia I need to know which one to get.

Do we need aerial adaptors to fit HU's to our cars? Or do we just need the fascia and ISO adaptor.

I don't know. My antenna plug fit straight on to my headunit (Pioneer). I didn't need any adapters.

It depends entirely on the headunit you buy. Some don't need aerial adapters, some do. My Alpine did. Only £5 or so from halfords

Im looking to get this Pioneer headunit

http://www.dynamicso... ... 11251.html

Do I need the optional cable to connect my iPod? Or will a normal apple ipod usb cable work for connecting my ipod to the headunit?

that headunit has only 1 pre out, so you can only connect 1 amp to it (either sub or components amp). So you're better off going for a HU with 2 or more pre outs. Youd need to buy the special cable to control the ipod off the HU

I'd get this alpine one
http://caraudiosecur...s_id/10496.html

-Can Illuminate in amber (exact same as our interior lights as i've got an alpine one)
-2x preouts and can control sub independently with one of them
-Ipod connection cable included (these are about £20) control ipod from the HU

and has nice filter settings etc

Sorry I posted the wrong link then, Ive just bought this one:

http://www.dynamicso... ... 11090.html

It has 3 RCA pre outs, I did want one to match our interior but this Pioneer one was only £120 and apparently you can use a normal iPod USB cable to attach your iPod to it.

Does it look good?

My DEH-P5100UB can control an iPod through USB so I can't see why that one couldn't.
It looks good, but not as good as mine

I wanted that one orignally! But Dynamic sounds stopped selling it, I really like the one you've it looks good. Think there basically the same feature wise.
