Can anyone tell me how i can undo the two 8mm bolts inside the console?? i cant reach them with a spanner and they are too tight to undo using a screwdriver http://epcivic.com/f...tyle_emoticons/default/sad.gif

Left hand side one can be accessed by taking the glovebox out and reaching from the inside (squeeze the sides of the 'box and it should fall down loosely) and the right one is a bit more difficult, there's a plastic panel just below the left of the steering wheel that you can remove and go in the same way. Keep at it and you'll get there in the end!

Just make sure you don't drop the bolts http://epcivic.com/f...tyle_emoticons/default/wink.gif and be aware your hands will probably take a battering!!

Don't use a screwdriver, best thing is a 8mm offsetted spanner!

Takes time but well worth it

That's quite a good guide there.

I'll be removing mine to put the standard one back in at the weekend, so if I remember I'll take some pictures and write up a how-to

Me and some friends are going to attempt this next week. Just need to wait for J4RED to get back to me so i can buy his harness adaptor. Thats the only thing I need

I will post some pictures  seems simple enough...*touch wood*

It is simple. When you do it once, you can do it again... again... again... juggling the headunit in and out probably 15 times like me for different reasons

The only thing you might struggle with are the two bolts that hold the top console piece. In my car they'd been tightened over-happily from the factory. Thanks to that, cut my hands ~4 times when getting them loose. When you put the console back together don't overtighten the bolts! Easier for yourself the next time you crack it open

A little stubby philips is all ya need, you go in as discribed above, through the glove box and through the fuse panel cover on the other side. you dont need to remove them, just loosen them.

Awesome thanks

Yeah i was thinking "how hard can it be!" Just remove a few things, plug it in, and hey presto!

I just didnt know what to expect

The dashboard adaptor thing we need for aftermarket head units, we only need one of them right?

The hardest part is getting the dashboard out for the first time. It took a lot of patience when I did it.

Depending on what headunit you've got you may need an aerial adapter aswel. Alpine's do. Not sure about any others

yeah ive got an alpine head unit. I think it came with an aerial adaptor. Its a tiny black lead with coax-lookalike connector on it.
