I did my soundsystem and the only tricky part is getting the headunit out as its quite awkward, its hard not to scratch the gear stick facia thing too!

But the rest is fine i earthed my boot amplifier onto one of the bolts just behind the rear left seat under the panel, Wire routing is easy in the civic too, i used the grommet behind the glove box to get inside the car from the engine bay.

Edit: mines a prefacelift but i havent heard about the issues you heard

its pretty easy to do mate, if your not sure get a wiring diagram (amp wiring kits tend to have them), basically connect this cable here and that cable there etc...

its one of those that you shouldnt cut corners on though, make sure you use connectors, insulate any bare wires and make sure you dont run the power cable and phono leads side by side as it will cause interferance through your speakers...

if your really unsure get a proffesional to do it, i used to fit alot of audio gear in ma last job and have saw alot of bad jobs, and some really dangerous stuff that i dont know how it hadnt caought fire that there "mate" had done for them. lol realise this sounds pretty doom n gloom just cant stress enough how doing something like this correctly, saftey first and all that

Mines done same as that, its earthed to the rear seat bolt, think it need tightening up because sometimes the amp dont turn on!

wiring my amp wasnt too bad. It was a bitch installing my headunit though. i just ran all my wires through under my centre console n earthed in the bootunder the carpet. i had to take up the rear carpet and undo a few bolts on the plastic trim which holds your seatbelt on. half a days work though. = MTX amp mounted on seats and 2- 12inch infinity subs.

got my components fitted as well but had to make a slight frame for them to sit in as my window wouldnt go all the way down

Run your power down the side of the car, and the phono leads down the centre!

The side plastics just pull off mate. Start at the passenger footwell, and pull of the cover, then pull up along the door sill section.
You will need a 14mm(?) socket to take off the seatbelt bar, and then the plastic will come off.

I left the last plastic section on and fished the wires behind it and then out under the rear seat bench. The seat bench is held on with one 10mm(?) bolt. It is just off centre of the middle seat. It will lift up and there are two clips at the front of the bench that will pull out.

Pretty easy mate. I earthed mine is a empty bolt hole in the spare wheel section.

While at it, a also ran new speaker cable from the amp to the front speakers. This was tricky, having to get the wires through the grommet going to the door is hard, cut my hands up big style. but sound was definatly better than tapping into the cars wireing.

all that reminds me i need to get my old disk changer cable out of my car, its tucked in the boot and under the passenger footwell it runs along the passenger side under the plastic but i dont know where once it gets to the back seats... it just seems to vanish.

i would pull it off but tried a while back and nothing budged at all.

Hey guys, im currently wiring up my old sound system into my ep2.

I have installed the head unit, changed the door speakers and wired in my parcel shelf 6x9's.

I have wired up my sub to the head unit but am unsure where i can run the power cable from the battery into the car, in my old car there was a rubber grommet i just cut a small hole in.

Does anyone know where i can run the cable or if there is a tut out there? iv had a look around a few forums but had no luck
