Just noticed this noise on my EP1. do you know how much it would have cost if it were not covered by warrenty?

Think I'm in for a big bill! MOT creeping up too as well as a service and insurance......arrrrgggghh

My noise is only apparent when the clutch peddle is lifted and is a type of werring noise when pulling away slowly. If I lift the bonnet it just sounds like tappets/valve clearences need adjusting but on the inside it sounds terrible.

I need a new gearbox at just 56000 miles!!!!!!!
I thought Honda were reliable? its only 6 years old. My old 1995 classic mini did 80000 before that needed replacing. who says modern cars are more reliable?

What a joke. I've done a bit of searching on google and it appears to have been a common problem with the civic! it was however never a recall.

So anyway it's going to cost me near on £1200 to replace with a re con box.
Man i'm cheesed off

Both my EP1 and EP2 have made these sounds. If i go into the garage and i need a new gearbox i cant afford that  ! And i defo aint sticking in a reconditioned box! NO WAY! I thought hondas were supposed to be reliable? im only on around 45000 miles! is there any comeback i can go with to the garage? this was a re-call fault wasnt it? surely they sould replace the bearings?

you can go on the honda website and check if you have any outstanding recalls. mine doesnt so my car must be fine.

but it doesnt sound good, specailly when done so little miles.

The gearbox was never a re call. I tried that route.

There is nothing wrong with a recon box. It's a gearbox that has been stripped and all worn components replaced. It's as good as a new box but cheaper as you're not paying for parts that don't need replacing.

I think Honda only allowed a three year warranty on wearing components such as the gearbox and as mines nearly six years old I don't stand a chance of getting it for nout.

you can take one out for about £70 extra a month, i suppose its worth it in the long run if something major breaks but most things are cheap enough anyway..... sort of.

Well cars going into Lookers Honda to get sorted out, picking it back up Friday hopefully!

Is i was leaving the dealership showroom to be taken back to work, my car must of been blocking another car in so the reception girl jumped into my car and moved it while another bloke drove the car behind towards the garage. As she was reversing into a space there were a few of here male colleagues standing round saying left abit, right abit, taking the piss lol

Since my seats in almost lying down position she was loving it! had window half down and tickling the spec 3 aswell posing away!!
