I reckon if he wanted to he could fit something much better than a k20... Maybe a 1JZ... Or a 2JZ Or an RB26? The possibilities are endless if you have the time/skill/money

The car has been off the street for amost 2 months now for the electrical work I talked about earlier ( the work wasn't continuous, I've been on vacation, I then had to work on some school issues and stuff... )
I plasti dipped the pillar and roof plastic trim bits as the black paint peeled of badly, re-upholstered the pillar trims, installed the buttons into the Bpillars for seat movement, re-did sound deadening the rear sides.
I also did a lot of wiring, I'll add pictures later once it is fully finished.
I also pre-wired the subwoofer and amplifier, blind spot assist system, soft close for doors, boot power socket, power tailgate.
I also installed the camera module.

So:
- I finished the wiring.
- got the interior back together.
- finished the sound deadening.
- re-done the wiring inside both seats, tidied it up. Re-wired the seat heaters.
- Before that I relocated the side airbag crash sensors into the space of the middle console because they were in the way of the seats at the sides. I made a bracket and welded it onto the floor.
- I have visited the welder and re-welded the boot mounts for the hydraulic struts for the power tailgate.
- pre-wired the subwoofer and ampilifer.
- got a cat.
- cut a hole into the dash for the camera buttons ( I yet have to draw the icons for them and have them laser engraved ).
- replaced the bulbs in the doors for smd leds for power consumption reduction.
- fitted new carpets with a high cut.
- pre-wired the button for the blind spot assist ( I yet have to draw the icons for it and have it laser engraved ).
- wired the button for the fuel filler flap and power tailgate, again, the icons are yet to come.
- wired a new amplified antenna for the dvbt tuner for improved perception.
- hoovered, cleaned and treated the front leather seats
- got a set of e60 bmw 5 rear leather seats, modified the bench quite a bit so it fits, the backrest part is yet to be done. These rear seats are much more comfortable that the standard ep seats. They are upholstered in leather of course, and they have quite a lot of side support on both the bench and more on the backrest part. So now sitting in the rear won't be like sitting in a jail cell.
- wired the ceiling console so now the buttons are back-lit and the orange ambient lighting works again.
- auto-headlights wired and working again.
- replaced the bulbs in the centre console since they were shot.
- wired the pac-swi steering wheel control, but I'm experiencing problems with it so I will probably be returning it
- wired in the clutch pedal and cancel button into the cruise control so now I can cancel it via the button on the steering wheel and it also stops after depressing the clutch pedal ( for safety purposes ).
- pre-wired the power cables to the soft close doors ( that I may or may not fit sometimes in the future, depending on the complexity and if I have time for it ).
- pre-wired the armrest heaters ( will be fitted with new doorcards ).
- wired&fitted a power outlet into the boot.
- fiberglassed a part of the subwoofer encolsure into the boot.
There was more but I can't remember right now...
Yet to come, I have got to change the fuel filter, front engine mount, exhaust downpipe gasket, lube the rear bushes, replace the front CV joints and repair the front top mounts

Once I finish fitting them and re-upholster the doorcards I will have them painted brown to match the front seats ( special paint suited for dying leather of course ).
And cats are awesome, I should have gotten one a long time ago

I replaced the outer CV joints, but I realised, that the clunking problem is being caused by the inner cv joints or differential, so I am going to leave that for later now.
I also replaced the front engine mount since that was snapped off.

The tube probably melted when welding the mounts for the hydraulic struts.
So I replaced it with a tube of the same diameter, used the original clips etc.

James - would it be possible for you to grab a pic of what the headliner looks like? I'm tempted to do mine black aswell as the A pillars like yourself

there are pictures on this or the previous pages of it.
I adjusted the valve clearances today, a bit late but better than never.
This is how my engine head looks after about 220k km, quite healthy I think.
