unless the modifications affect the gearbox then they should fix it. exhaust and induction are engine related not gearbox.

id question it more. but then they thought, modified = flogged so you done it why should they fix it for free.

shouldnt cost all that much, maybe get a low miler from a scrappy?

Its it like a whirring noise, and is most noticable when letting your foot of the accelerator in 3rd gear quite high up the revs?

If so, ive had this noise for 2.5 years, and it aint the gearbox.

Gearbox noises are normally heard at low revs whether accelerating or de-accelerating and if it was arnold clark Kirkcaldy you took it to, i wouldn't belive a word they thick fuckers told me.

EP2, do you get it only when the clutch is raised?
I mean on mine, put it in neutral and lift the clutch and theres a whirring noise, sounds like bearings. Only when the clutch is lifted.

Spoke to a mechanic about it, he said dont worry about it, nothings going to happen to it. But if i really wanted to, i could change the gearbox oil/transmission fluid, and see if that made a difference.
Im not going to bother. Been like that for about 3 years

Also, you could take the mods off, and take it to another garage?

Ross27.. i have the same on my Ep3, dip the clutch and all goes quiet.. which points to either worn bearings, dry gears(low oil), or combo of the 2!!

Mine only does it when the revs are falling, even if the cluth is down (dis-engaged) to change gear.

Did you ever get this problem sorted? I am curious to know what the problem was in case it happens to mine.

That whirring noise your hearing is the clutch release bearings. It absolutely nothing to worry about. all it is is the bearings have worn in, not out. Only if your car has got serious high miles do you need to worry.

You do know that modifications don't automatically void your warranty?
There is a very helpful and very specific piece of law-related writing on EPhatch regarding this issue. It pretty much lets you know what mods will void it. Prepare yourself with a cuppa and some biscuits though, it's a long read!
